The Monroe County Republican Central Committee initiated its annual scholarship program in 2006, as
a means of promoting academic achievement & political activism among Monroe County students. The
Committee awards two $1000 scholarships, funded by a donation from the Central Committee and
matching donation from Mr. George Obernagel.
All high school seniors and college undergraduates who are Monroe County residents and United
States citizens are eligible to apply. Applicants are judged on their class rank, GPA, community and
school activities, political activism, a 500 word essay, & an oral interview. A committee made up of
community members judges applications and announces winners at the annual Monroe County
Reagan Day Spring Dinner.
